The first day I played disc golf went from “I’d be down to try some frolf” in the morning, to “what’s the frisbee golf shop in Langley called?” by that evening. I was too energized to sleep that night, because hard and fast, I’d fallen in love with it.
I started playing when I was newly back in recovery, trying to find healthy things to do to stay occupied. I had no idea how much disc golf would change my life. The Mundy Park crowd took me in, and it’s been my second home ever since. I hardly go a day without playing, whether it’s day rounds or glow.
Favourite days consist of travelling to explore new courses; I love the fresh challenge of holes I’ve yet to play, combined with the beautiful natural setting most courses reside in. Playing a round with people from other clubs when travelling solo always gives me gratitude for this community we’re part of and the common love for the game we share connecting us. I hope to build on my passion for these things during my time with the BCDGA.
